Informed Transformations

This interpretation of the post modern era features rhizomatic distribution of political power, control, information and space. This project trats the ever-changing and enormously complex socio-economic context though meta-designing a digital platform where the inhabitable space is generated from. This approach offers, rather than prescribed rigid set of building instructions, an interaction between the user demand (inhabitants) and rules design (architect).

The platform consists of two main modules: parametric and algorithmic. The first module is informed about the user demand. It stores, pocesses and distributes the data concerning all neighbours, available vacant space and inhabitant’s future space requirements. The actual form is given through the parametric module. It holds a time-dependent geometry (genom) that can take a range of trans-formations (genotypes). Genotypes are able to physically change shape in space during its use, providing both vertical and horizontal separation or connection.
The main difference from and conventional planning of large-scale development is that the data applied to the space are fresh and updatable. The space is changeable during the entire life-span and use of the building and therefore more responding to the actual demand.
